Suno implements watermarking and new protections for AI-generated music

Suno, an AI music creation platform, announced tools to mark tracks created on its platform and limit downloads. The company signed an agreement with lyrics provider Musixmatch to use its Sentinel copyright detection system. Watermarks use audio watermarking and fingerprinting to prevent misuse on external streaming platforms without affecting the listening experience. New community guidelines explicitly prohibit deceptive audio presented as real and the use of a real person's voice or likeness without permission. Suno also plans to add a download policy to prevent mass distribution on streaming platforms. These announcements come amid multiple lawsuits from Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group, and other music industry entities.
