Music generation startup Suno announced plans to watermark all audio outputs from its models as part of efforts to combat spam and low-quality AI-generated content on streaming platforms. The initiative aligns with emerging industry standards for labeling AI content. Suno CEO Mikey Shulman stated that the company will soon add watermarks to all audio, with platforms able to either mark such content or block it entirely. While the company has not specified whether it will develop an in-house watermarking solution or adopt Google's SynthID—a third-party watermarking technology now being licensed to other companies—Google has reported that SynthID has already been deployed to label 60,000 years' worth of audio from its Gemini models, plus over 100 billion images and videos.
