The Institute for the Future of Preparedness has published a comprehensive policy framework with 23 specific recommendations to address risks from automating AI research and development. The proposals span seven categories aimed at helping policymakers manage recursive self-improvement (RSI) capabilities as they develop at frontier labs. The recommendations focus on increasing transparency into automated AI R&D processes, building state capacity for oversight, developing risk management strategies, accelerating verification technology research, investing in AI system resilience, extending competitive advantages, and creating mechanisms for international coordination on RSI governance.
