Tucker Bryant, a former Google project manager, launched ChatTJB in April as an art project exploring the concept of "cognitive surrender" to AI. Unlike traditional chatbots, ChatTJB simply connects users with Bryant himself, who handwrites images and provides personal advice to queries. After a $6,000 San Francisco billboard went up on July 27, the project gained widespread attention. By August 6, ChatTJB had received over 30,000 queries, with peak traffic reaching 5,000 prompts per hour. Bryant, who programmed the website using Lovable, views the project as both a commentary on AI culture and a space where people can receive genuine human conversation rather than algorithmic responses.
