Univé Builds AI-Ready Workforce Through ChatGPT Enterprise Adoption
Univé, a major Dutch cooperative insurer, launched an organizational transformation aimed at enabling all employees to use artificial intelligence safely and effectively. Rather than viewing AI as a mere technology deployment, the company recognized it as an opportunity to fundamentally reshape how its workforce delivered value to members.
Leadership drove the transformation. Instead of treating AI implementation as an IT initiative, Univé convened its management teams for dedicated sessions to reconsider how work would change and what role managers should play in fostering responsible innovation. The company embedded governance from the outset, implementing enterprise authentication, permission hierarchies, and privacy assessments that generated employee confidence in the platform.
With leadership alignment and governance safeguards in place, employees became the primary drivers of adoption. The organization created approximately 1,500 custom GPTs to address internal challenges, reflecting a culture where staff continuously improved operations. In pet insurance claims processing, an AI agent assembles case files and prepares recommendations, reducing review time from hours to minutes. Similarly, in underwriting, agents structure daily work queues and surface priority cases before underwriters begin their shifts. Univé is now exploring more advanced agentic workflows designed to proactively prepare recurring tasks across approved enterprise systems, allowing professionals to focus on high-judgment decisions while AI handles information preparation.
