Vesuvius Challenge marks progress with full scroll reading and expanded prize program

The Vesuvius Challenge has announced substantial progress in its effort to read ancient papyri. The initiative successfully decoded a complete scroll using a newly developed unwrapping algorithm incorporating a global spiral prior. To encourage further advancement, it has unveiled a $1 million grand prize for reading one of its scanned scrolls. Complementing this, ten $50,000 prizes are available for discovering text in previously unread scrolls, with monthly progress incentives also in place.
