Xiaohongshu Bans Accounts for AI-Generated Toxic Content and Serious Violations

Xiaohongshu announced the permanent suspension of multiple accounts for illegal and harmful activities. The platform processed 84,000 violating notes, 105,000 violating comments, and 3,571 accounts in its minor protection initiative. One particular issue involved the use of AI to generate "toxic" content, with one account creating disturbing versions of classic animations. Other accounts were suspended for inducing minors into harmful relationships, offering inappropriate companionship services, and encouraging self-harm. The platform stated it has improved its risk identification models to detect coded language, manipulated images, and other attempts to circumvent moderation.
