Ollie, an AI assistant focused on user privacy, has announced its shutdown, set for November 6. Bill Lennon, the company’s co-founder and CEO, shared the news on X, expressing pride in the team’s achievements and gratitude to users, investors, and supporters. The app, which connected to email and calendars and offered features like appointment booking and bill payment, had raised $7.5 million in seed funding led by Khosla Ventures in September. Ollie was among the first mainstream apps to achieve SOC 2 compliance, a privacy standard requiring independent audits. Despite its focus on privacy, the company struggled to compete in the rapidly growing AI assistant market, where firms like Muse and Instinct have emerged. Customers will soon receive guidance on exporting data and receiving refunds.
