OpenAI academy expands access to AI training across communities

OpenAI announced the expansion of its Academy program, which has provided AI training to over 4 million people since its launch in September 2024. Over the past two years, the initiative has hosted more than 250 events, focusing on practical skills for tasks like teaching, running a small business, and software development. The program has engaged educators, small business owners, developers, and community members, offering both in-person workshops and self-paced courses. To further broaden access, OpenAI is launching a new Community Trainer Program, enabling partner organizations to train their own staff to deliver Academy content locally. This initiative aims to create a network of local experts who can support communities as AI tools evolve. The program includes training and assessments for facilitators, with the goal of making AI education more accessible and relevant to everyday challenges.
