OpenAI accelerates incident response with ultrafast AI tool
OpenAI engineers are leveraging Ultrafast, a high-speed mode in Codex, to drastically reduce incident investigation times. Previously, security investigations could take up to two hours, but now they are completed in 10 to 15 minutes, with some cases approaching real-time.
Aaron Friel, a Technical Staff Member, explains that Ultrafast allows him to analyze multiple potential causes simultaneously, significantly speeding up incident resolution. AJ Trbojevic, a Datacenter Security Architect, notes that the tool streamlines data collection and context creation, enabling faster decision-making.
Adam Perry and Sayan Sisodiya, both on the core agent team, highlight how Ultrafast has reduced the need to split attention between Codex and manual checks, allowing for greater focus. Jeff Niu, another Technical Staff Member, reports that most tasks now take under 30 seconds, improving workflow efficiency.
Ultrafast also supports larger refactors by reducing the time required to rework code, making technical debt easier to manage.
