OpenAI enhances codex with cross-device cloud environments and security tools

OpenAI has expanded the capabilities of its software engineering agent, Codex, by introducing reusable cloud development environments that can be accessed from any device. The update, announced at OpenAI’s Dev Day on Tuesday, allows developers to run Cod, whether on a computer, remotely from a phone, or in the cloud. These environments are designed to help tasks start more quickly and provide teams with a shared workspace with approved settings and permissions. In addition to the cloud environments, OpenAI is rolling out a new set of security tools called Codex Security Cloud, which enables developers to scan GitHub repositories on demand or regularly, as well as when new commits arrive. The tools also include access to models from OpenAI’s cybersecurity initiative, Daybreak Blue, without requiring a separate application. OpenAI also announced several API updates, including a new Decisions API for real-time decision-making and an updated Agents API that supports computer use and Amazon’s Bedrock Managed Agents.
