OpenAI expands voice-driven features to mobile app

OpenAI has introduced voice-based agentic features to its mobile app, allowing users to initiate workflows like drafting documents or summarizing emails. Plus and Pro users gain access to the Work tab on their phones, enabling document creation, email drafting, Slack message summarization, website building, presentation creation, cloud browsing, and financial tools within ChatGPT. Free and Go users receive plugin and connected app access. Voice conversations now produce richer text output, with seamless text-to-voice switching. Users can start tasks on their phones and resume them on desktop. This update follows GPT-Live integration into the desktop app in July. Anthropic improved mobile-to-desktop experience by merging Cowork and Chat interfaces, though OpenAI maintains separate chat and workspace environments. The feature aligns with growing user adoption of voice commands for complex tasks via AI assistants.
