OpenAI introduces advanced voice models with GPT-5.6 sol and gpt-6 astra support
OpenAI has announced new features for its ChatGPT Voice product, allowing users to select specific models and adjust inference depth. Pro subscribers can now access GPT-5.6 Sol or GPT-6 Astra for complex tasks like web searches. When voice queries are processed by text models, they are treated as messages sent to those models. Atty Eleti, OpenAI's voice product lead, highlighted the integration of these advanced models into the voice interface.
In addition to model upgrades, OpenAI has simplified GPT-Live usage limits. The Go plan now offers up to 3 hours of GPT-Live-1 mini access, while the Pro plan (at $100/month) provides 15 hours. Plus and Pro users will no longer fall back to GPT-Live mini once their voice credits are exhausted. The previous 'Instant / Medium / High' tiers have been officially discontinued.
