OpenAI has announced new capabilities for ChatGPT, enabling the AI assistant to perform tasks such as checking insurance, canceling flights, and rescheduling deliveries on behalf of users, without accessing their login details. These features are part of an update to ChatGPT Work, a task management agent powered by GPT-5.6, available to Plus, Pro, and Business users on mobile and web platforms. The tool is designed to streamline workflows by integrating various tasks into a single interface. According to OpenAI, ChatGPT Work can now handle more complex actions, such as setting up home utilities, booking passports or medical appointments, purchasing or canceling plane tickets, and rearranging package deliveries, all without viewing users' login credentials. The company emphasizes that these actions are performed through a cloud browser that can interact with websites, including reading web pages, clicking buttons, and entering information into forms, without exposing users' personal details to the AI model. OpenAI's help page explains that when users initiate a task, ChatGPT generates a secure form for logging into a website via a remote browser. Users must approve the website and complete any two-factor authentication. The company states that usernames and passwords entered in the secure form are not visible to the model and are not stored by ChatGPT. Additionally, all sign-in requests are reviewed by an additional model to detect signs of phishing or deception. Users can control which websites ChatGPT has access to through the Cloud browser settings, with options to 'Always ask,' 'Auto approve,' or 'Always allow.' However, some websites may restrict access from AI agents, potentially limiting the tool's functionality. Once approvals are completed and the user is logged in, ChatGPT will unpause the conversation and proceed to complete the requested tasks. The AI will also prompt users for confirmation before performing actions that could have significant real-world consequences, such as confirming a booking or making a payment. OpenAI notes that users can already connect their bank accounts and medical records to the platform, highlighting the increasing integration of AI into personal and financial management. The company also mentions that Ziff Davis, Mashable's parent company, filed a lawsuit against OpenAI in April 2025, alleging copyright infringement in the training and operation of its AI systems.
