OpenAI introduces premium AI agents and expands subscription plans

OpenAI has launched its most expensive subscription plan yet, the Pro 500, at $500 per month, offering up to $6,000 annually with enhanced computing capabilities. The plan includes access to the Ultrafast version of GPT-6 Astra, which provides an eightfold speed increase for ChatGPT Work and Codex. Sarah Friar, OpenAI’s CFO, stated that the new agent system, Dots, will initially be available through Pro, Business, and Enterprise offerings but aims to reach its entire consumer base of 1.2 billion people. Friar noted that despite initial skepticism about high prices, users are now willing to spend more on AI services. CEO Sam Altman emphasized that while Dots is currently a premium product, the company plans to make it accessible to a broader audience in the future. OpenAI also reopened its $200-a-month Pro plan with reduced compute allowances, offering subscribers 10 times the allowance of the $20-a-month Plus plan.
