OpenAI launches gpt-6 astra with advanced capabilities and new pricing

OpenAI has launched GPT-6 Astra, its most capable model to date, available to Pro, Enterprise, and Business Premium users via ChatGPT Work, Codex, and API. The model, released on September 3, 2026, features a 1050,000-token context window and can generate up to 128,000 tokens. It supports text and image input, with tools for web and file search, code execution, and more. OpenAI CEO Greg Brockman called the release 'the beginning of the AGI era.' GPT-6 Astra excels in cybersecurity, reaching the company's 'Critical' threshold, and achieved 100% on ExploitBench. It also outperformed its predecessor in math and reasoning tests. The model can autonomously perform tasks like data analysis and presentation creation. API pricing is $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, double the previous model's rates. Access to Plus and Business users is pending, with full rollout expected soon. OpenAI has enhanced security measures to prevent misuse, citing recent zero-day vulnerabilities discovered in internal testing.
