OpenAI launches new ChatGPT plugins for iCloud integration
OpenAI announced on October 27, 2026, the release of two new plugins for ChatGPT users, enabling access to iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar. These plugins are available to all ChatGPT plan users, including Free, Go, Plus, and Pro subscribers, across web, desktop, and iOS platforms. With user authorization, ChatGPT can read and manage iCloud emails, create calendar events based on email content, and integrate with Apple Calendar. AppleInsider noted that this update raises privacy and competition concerns, as users must explicitly grant access to sensitive data like financial and work information.
The new features allow iPhone, iPad, and Mac users to automate tasks such as scheduling meetings, organizing travel itineraries, and drafting email responses. OpenAI emphasized improved compatibility between ChatGPT and Apple’s ecosystem. Privacy advocates and users are now closely examining the data handling practices and permission boundaries for these integrations.
