A OpenAI announced that it will reduce the API and Credit costs for the GPT-5.6 Sol model by more than 20% over the next three months. Previously, the cost was $5 per 1 million input tokens and $30 per 1 million output tokens. The new pricing is $4 per 1 million input tokens, a 20% decrease, and $20 per 1 million output tokens, a 33% reduction. Cache input costs have also been lowered from $0.50 to $0.40, while cache write costs have dropped from $6.25 to $5. Long context input and output costs have similarly been reduced, with input costs falling from $10 to $8 and output costs from $45 to $30. The updated pricing is now available on the API and will be gradually rolled out to ChatGPT Work and Codex credits. Pro, Plus, and Business subscription plans remain unchanged. The price changes make the GPT-5.6 Sol model more cost-effective compared to other models such as DeepSeek V4 Pro.
