OPPO launches mobilemem benchmark to evaluate end-device AI memory

OPPO + OpenKGSource: ITHome02/09/2026, 02:43
OPPO, in collaboration with OpenKG and several universities including Zhejiang University, Tongji University, and Southeast University, has introduced MobileMem, a benchmark for evaluating AI memory on mobile devices. The initiative aims to establish a unified standard for assessing end-side AI memory, which is crucial for enabling devices to understand user preferences and provide proactive assistance. The benchmark was announced as part of OPPO's efforts to move beyond basic conversational AI toward more intelligent, user-centric functionality. OPPO's ColorOS 17 developer conference, scheduled for September 17, 2026, in Zhuhai, will showcase advancements in AI features within the new operating system. Meng Zhaohui, OPPO's Chief Product Officer and OnePlus founder, emphasized that while current AI models can handle basic conversations, the next phase of AI phone development requires devices to truly understand users and anticipate their needs. The lack of a standardized evaluation framework for AI memory has hindered progress, prompting the collaboration to create MobileMem. This benchmark will allow different AI solutions to be tested and compared under a common standard, facilitating innovation and improvement in end-device AI capabilities.
