On October 26, 2026, Panasonic announced that an employee at its PEX division had improperly uploaded data of current and former employees, along with their families, to a prohibited external generative AI platform. The incident involved 75,000 current employees, 178,000 former employees, 55,000 current family members, and 26,000 former family members, totaling approximately 334,000 individuals. The data included personal details such as employee IDs, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses, as well as emergency contact information for family members. Following the incident, the employee removed the AI chat records and related data from their work computer.
