Playco, a game development company, has reported a 50% reduction in manual fixes after using GPT-6 Astra to prototype three themed games from a single grey box foundation. The AI model enabled the team to create functional prototypes with minimal iteration, with most working on the first attempt. Joao Vieira, Lead Product Engineer, noted that the first prototype was already strong, requiring only adjustments based on gameplay preferences. One cyberpunk version needed a performance fix, but the rest were ready without further changes. Playco is integrating GPT-6 Astra into Playbot, an AI-powered IDE for game developers, which connects directly to engines like Unity and Godot. This allows AI models to edit scenes, test games, and validate changes in real-time. The tool also helps identify bugs and improve player experience by letting models play and test their own creations. The team observed improvements in spatial reasoning, UI responsiveness, and game feel, with Astra finding bugs more efficiently than previous models. The ability to rapidly prototype and test multiple game ideas has significantly impacted Playco’s workflow. Vieira emphasized that the company can now turn 10 game ideas into playable versions for comparison, rather than relying on imagination alone.
