Runway unveils solaris, a new AI model for real-time interactive interface creation

Runway, a leading AI company, has launched Solaris, its first major model in the 'Interface World Models' series. This innovation allows for real-time, frame-by-frame rendering of dynamic interfaces without relying on pre-written code. Traditional software interfaces are split between AI systems that provide static content and real-time programs that handle dynamic effects. Solaris integrates rendering and interaction, generating each frame as a world model and responding instantly to user input. The technology is built on Runway's Gen-4.5 video generation model, achieving improvements in speed, coherence, and cost efficiency. It uses self-regressive generation and multi-step denoising to compress video creation into real-time interaction. Large language models interpret user intent, while world models handle visual rendering. In benchmark tests, Solaris outperformed traditional methods in preserving visual and semantic details. User studies showed 61% and 71% preference for its accuracy and natural behavior.
