Samsung Electronics is advancing its humanoid robot prototype development and plans to unveil its self-developed model at CES 2027 in January 2027. The project is led by the Samsung Robot RX department under the direct supervision of Roh Tae-moon, head of the DX department. Industry insiders noted that the integration of AI software and hardware development under one leader is a strategic move to shorten the R&D cycle. Janghyun Yoon, chief technology officer of the DX department, is overseeing both hardware and AI software teams. Samsung has also secured multiple core patents, including hip joint design, high-dexterity robotic hands, and AI-based motion control technology, to accelerate commercialization. Industry experts believe that the rapid evolution of AI is pushing the commercialization of humanoid robots forward, prompting Samsung to speed up its efforts. The company’s approach of combining AI and hardware development under a single leader is seen as a key factor in reducing development time. This strategy aims to keep pace with the fast-evolving AI landscape, which traditional separate development models cannot match.
