Samsung and mistral forge ai-driven semiconductor alliance

During the South Korea-France presidential summit in September 2026, Samsung Electronics announced a strategic partnership with Mistral AI, a French AI startup founded in 2023 by former DeepMind and Meta employees. The collaboration aims to integrate Mistral’s advanced AI models, including Mistral Large, into Samsung’s semiconductor operations to enhance chip design and manufacturing. Samsung plans to develop customized AI models to accelerate chip development, improve manufacturing accuracy, and stabilize production yields. Samsung has been intensifying its AI strategy in semiconductors, with recent collaborations including a partnership with Arm in March 2026 to develop edge-side AI chips and discussions with OpenAI in July 2026. The company also partnered with SK Hynix and Qualcomm in late August 2026 to advance HBC chip commercialization. These efforts reflect Samsung’s push to build an AI-driven semiconductor infrastructure, strengthening its position in the global chip industry.
