Sean parker revitalizes stability AI with focus on music technology
Sean Parker, co-founder of Napster, is refocusing on the music industry by restructuring Stability AI, an AI startup he previously helped rescue.
Two years after joining an $80 million funding round to save the company from collapse, Parker and CEO Prem Akkaraju are unveiling new initiatives aimed at making Stability the go-to AI tool for music professionals.
In late August, the company secured $76 million in funding from Sony, Warner, and Universal, which also licensed their music catalogs for training. Stability has since launched three audio models and AI music-editing software, enabling users to generate instrumental tracks or short snippets from text prompts.
An upcoming update will allow users to hum melodies or beatbox drum patterns to guide AI output. Parker acknowledged past missteps, emphasizing a more compliant approach this time around.
