Seedance 2.5 introduces draft mode for efficient video creation

Volcanic Engine announced on September 22, 2026, the release of Seedance 2.5 API with a new Draft mode. This feature allows businesses and creators to first generate 480P previews to validate ideas at a lower cost, then produce 1080P final versions. The final output maintains high-resolution quality while significantly reducing costs. For instance, generating a 5-second clip in 1080P with four attempts can save 57% in costs and double the speed. The Draft mode is accessible via the API by setting the parameter 'draft' to true, or through the 'Seedance 2.5 (Draft Mode)' option in the 'iDream' app. The mode separates video creation into two stages: preview and final production, ensuring consistency in structure and motion between the two.
