Sequoia invests in Cymphony to tackle AI agent security challenges
Sequoia Capital has increased its investment in Cymphony, a startup focused on securing enterprises against risks posed by AI agents. Cymphony recently secured $30 million in funding, including a $25 million Series A led by Sequoia and SMBC Fin Atlas Beyond Fund, valuing the New York- and Tel Aviv-based company at over $100 million.
The investment follows an earlier undisclosed seed round from Sequoia. Cymphony addresses security gaps by providing a unified view of employees, AI agents, and data access through its 'workforce graph' platform. Cymphony co-founder Shy Dekel highlighted the growing need for security solutions as AI agents increasingly join the workforce.
The startup has already identified risks in major companies, including 85,000 files accessible to AI tools. Cymphony also uses AI to investigate and automate security responses. Sequoia’s initial investment was based on the founders’ background from Talpiot, an Israeli military program, and their potential.
The firm now sees Cymphony’s approach as distinct in treating identity and data security as interconnected challenges.
