Sk hynix and Intel explore U.S. memory chip manufacturing partnership

The U.S. government is pushing for domestic chip production amid a global shortage, with the Trump administration considering tariffs on semiconductor imports. The Trump administration is seeking to boost American chip production, with the White House proposing tariffs on imports while offering relief to domestic investors. SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won has expressed support for U.S. manufacturing, stating the company should build factories there if feasible. SK Hynix also listed its American depository receipts on Nasdaq in July, expanding access to U.S. investors. The potential partnership could face regulatory hurdles, as South Korea may require a government review for technology transfers. Intel has not yet commented on the reported discussions.
