Spotify launches taste profile to let users customize music recommendations

Spotify has launched the 'Taste Profile' feature for U.S. Premium subscribers, allowing users to customize their music recommendations. The tool, powered by Spotify’s AI, lets users see how the platform understands their musical tastes and adjust them using natural language commands. The feature was first introduced in March 2026 at SXSW in Austin by Spotify co-CEO Gustav Söderström, initially available only in beta to New Zealand users. Now, it is rolling out to Spotify’s largest market, where it will be tested with listeners aged 18 and older. Users can request more variety or adjust specific genres, artists, or moods. The feature is still in beta, with no timeline for wider release. Spotify says it can help users explore new genres or adjust the vibe of their music recommendations.
