Superhuman acquires Fathom to enhance ai-driven productivity tools
Superhuman, a leading AI-powered productivity platform, has acquired Fathom, a Y Combinator-backed notetaker startup, to bolster its suite of tools for agentic work. Fathom, founded in 2020, has raised over $30 million and was valued at $94 million in 2024.
The acquisition comes after Superhuman tested an internal notetaker but opted for an existing product to integrate with its platform. Shishir Mehrotra, Superhuman’s CEO, noted the complexity of building a notetaker and the depth required in the product.
Fathom’s CEO, Richard White, highlighted Superhuman’s 40 million user base as a key opportunity for scaling. Superhuman’s platform already includes an email client, docs app, calendar, and AI agent builder, with the notetaker expected to enhance automation by drafting emails, scheduling meetings, and extracting insights from meeting data.
Competitors like Granola and Read AI are also vying in the notetaker space, with venture-backed startups facing pressure to expand beyond basic notetaking.
