Sweden's government office has announced that employees will no longer be allowed to access ChatGPT and Claude directly from their work computers starting next week. Instead, they must use approved AI services like Microsoft Copilot. The office conducted a review of Copilot and enhanced its security measures. Mikael Wettercrantz, the office's digital director, warned that using unapproved AI services could compromise information security. Several other government agencies, including the Swedish Tax Agency and the National Agency for Education, have also implemented similar restrictions. The Swedish Enforcement Authority is still considering whether to impose similar limits. The Swedish Transport Agency has already taken action after an internal audit found employees using up to 10 different AI services, some of which posed security risks. While some staff may still use ChatGPT and Claude through an internally developed AI assistant platform, the government office has not disclosed the specific security measures taken to protect Copilot.
