Synaptics launches astra sr200 mcu with google coral npu for edge AI

On October 20, 2026, Synaptics introduced the Astra SR200 series of xMCUs, which integrate Google's Coral NPU and high-bandwidth custom DRAM. The Astra SR200 series is designed to run multimodal edge AI workloads, offering up to 400 GOPS of AI compute power through a combination of Arm Cortex-M85 and Cortex-M52 CPU IP. The series supports larger AI models and diverse workloads on-device, making it suitable for next-generation AI wearables, battery-powered sensors, and industrial vision systems. Synaptics also unveiled the Coralboard SR development board based on the Astra SR250, which features microSD, NOR, MIPI-CSI/DSI, USB, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity. This board enables developers to run models like Gemma 3 locally, aligning with Google's Coral ecosystem.
