Tencent expands AI talent strategy with external expert platform

Tencent has launched the Tongyuan Think Tank, an expert platform designed to connect external professionals in fields such as finance, law, and medicine with its large model. The platform enables remote collaboration and offers task-based payment models for experts to contribute to data collection and content processing. Experts can earn compensation and receive official certification from Tencent, with higher ratings granting access to more complex tasks. The move marks a shift in the AI industry from hiring full-time researchers to competing for external talent. Tencent is not the first to adopt this strategy, as ByteDance previously launched a similar expert community for its Dou Bao model. Industry analysts note that as large models mature, specialized knowledge is critical for applications in regulated sectors like healthcare and finance. Tencent's platform aims to build a competitive edge by integrating external expertise into its technical capabilities.
