Tencent launches standalone file browser for workbuddy with AI integration
On October 8, 2026, Tencent announced the official release of an independent file browser for its AI productivity tool, WorkBuddy. The update allows users to open files directly through their operating system's file explorer or Finder, and launch WorkBuddy to view and process them in a separate window. The browser supports Word, Excel, PPT, PDF, Markdown, and HTML files, enabling users to edit, analyze, and modify documents with AI assistance. Each file has its own AI chat interface, and multiple files can be opened in tabs with corresponding AI conversations.
Users can also interact with the AI directly while viewing files, asking questions or requesting edits. WorkBuddy automatically saves changes to local files for Word, Excel, and PPT documents, while Markdown and HTML files are saved upon exiting the editing mode. The tool also allows users to generate web-based reports from Excel data, enhancing its utility for data-driven tasks.
