Tencent launches workbuddy open platform, expands agent capabilities

On September 2, 2026, Tencent officially launched the WorkBuddy Open Platform, which will fully open its Agent base capabilities. Over 100 partners joined the platform in its first phase, with access provided to developers, industry applications, and smart hardware. The platform serves as a one-stop workspace for WorkBuddy's ecosystem, allowing developers to manage skills, experts, connectors, and external applications after passing certification. Nine co-branded smart devices were unveiled at the event, including brands like Plaud, Rokid, and Xiaomi. Over 30 industry applications were also integrated, spanning sectors such as finance, law, healthcare, education, and charity. Tencent Cloud Vice President Liu Yi emphasized that true productivity lies in connecting capabilities across various scenarios, aiming to position WorkBuddy as an operating system for the Agent era.
