Tencent unveils 'yuanbao assistant' app to enter personal agent market
Tencent is set to launch a standalone 'Yuanbao Assistant' app, designed to run independently from its main Yuanbao app, with dedicated permissions and space to handle long-term tasks and personal memory. The app, part of Tencent's broader efforts in the Personal Agent space, is being developed by the Yuanbao team, which also operates the Yuanbao AI assistant, launched in May 2024. The new app aims to enhance capabilities such as document processing and content creation, supporting formats like PDF, Word, and Excel.
In recent months, major Chinese tech firms have accelerated their Personal Agent initiatives. On September 29, it was reported that ByteDance's 'Doubao' is developing a personal assistant product codenamed 'Spell', with an app version named 'Xiaodou' already in internal testing. The release of Xiaodou remains subject to potential changes before its official launch.
