Tencent workbuddy introduces ai-driven back-to-school initiative for educators and students

Tencent WorkBuddy has launched a back-to-school initiative aimed at providing free AI credits to college teachers and students across China. From September 1 to October 31, 2026, full-time undergraduate students at mainland universities can receive 1,000 credits by verifying through the WorkBuddy WeChat mini program. In-service teachers can also obtain 1,000 credits by verifying through the Ministry of Education's 'China Teacher' mini program until September 30, 2026. The initiative covers scenarios such as information retrieval, exam preparation, and career consultation. The program is part of WorkBuddy's effort to integrate AI into educational ecosystems, building on previous initiatives like the 'Treasure Campus Skill Competition,' which involved 416 universities and generated 1,176 practical campus skills. WorkBuddy has also introduced AI expert avatars and collaborated with 33 experts to develop teaching tools on the Tencent Penguin Teacher Assistant. The platform is also hosting campus open days and launching an 'AI Pioneer Teacher Incentive Program' to recognize and support innovative educators.
