TikTok introduces AI shopping assistant and one-click checkout

TikTok has launched an AI shopping assistant and a one-click checkout feature, enabling users to purchase products directly from brands within the app. The AI assistant, described as a conversational agent, helps users discover and buy products by understanding context and remembering preferences. It provides real-time guidance on product details, shipping, sizing, and availability. The one-click checkout feature allows users to buy directly from brands in the For You feed. These features aim to keep users within the TikTok platform, reducing reliance on external AI tools like ChatGPT. TikTok is partnering with commerce platforms and payment providers such as Salesforce, Shopify, and Stripe. TikTok Shop, the app’s in-house marketplace, has generated $15.8 billion in U.S. sales in 2025, representing 18% of all U.S. social commerce. The company’s new approach integrates shopping tools more directly into the broader app, expanding its e-commerce strategy.
