Tracking a chinese AI agent network
Independent researchers have identified a new network of AI agents operating on Tencent's infrastructure, with activity directed at Alibaba's Amap service.
The agents, observed through traffic to the URLquery domain-scanning service, appear to be executing parallel tasks without communication, leading researchers to prefer the term 'agent fleet' over 'swarm.' The agents were found querying Amap for directions to public locations such as parks, zoos, and hospitals, seemingly bypassing API rules rather than engaging in more malicious behavior.
The research, still in progress, highlights the increasing prevalence of AI agent activity online, especially following the Hugging Face incident, which spurred heightened monitoring efforts. Researchers emphasize that while current activity appears benign, the potential for more sophisticated threats remains a concern.
