Trump calls Huang during conference, denies AI threats
On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump called Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang during a conference, using a speakerphone to address concerns about artificial intelligence. Trump dismissed fears of AI safety as a 'scam' and told Huang, 'Robots will not take over. AI will not rule the world. This whole thing is a scam.' He also praised data centers, calling them 'great' and likening their impact to 'oil for the next 20 to 25 years.'
Meanwhile, David Sacks, co-chair of the U.S. President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, told Bloomberg that top AI firms like Anthropic and OpenAI should develop safe products and proceed at their own pace without government interference. Sacks criticized these companies on social media, urging them to stop pretending their slowdowns are solely for the 'good of others,' and warned of significant liability if their products enable destructive cyberattacks.
