Viture's vonder glasses offer a new way to track and understand your life

Viture, a San Francisco-based company, has launched its first pair of smart glasses without a virtual display, called Vonder. The glasses aim to map memories, ideas, and goals onto a digital vision board, without using embedded cameras. The product, priced at $299, features microphones and speakers for audio playback and calls, and includes a built-in AI assistant that leverages top large language models like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and DeepSeek. David Jiang, cofounder and CEO of Viture, shared how the glasses helped him improve his parenting by providing real-time feedback on his behavior during his son's tennis matches. The glasses also collect data when the wearer is speaking, using bone-conduction sensors to passively capture audio vibrations throughout the day. Vonder's unique approach to data collection and memory mapping raises questions about the depth of self-indulgent information gathered. Jiang emphasized that the glasses aim to mimic human memory organization, offering a more comprehensive view of one's life. The glasses are set to ship in November, with preorders starting on September 28. Viture positions itself as a privacy-focused alternative to Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses, highlighting its commitment to private operation and user comfort.
