Wabi, an AI agent startup founded by Eugenia Kuyda, has raised $55 million at a $1.25 billion valuation, marking a significant milestone in the AI agent space. The company, previously known for enabling users to build apps via prompts, has pivoted to focus on creating personal AI agents. This new direction, dubbed Wabi 2.0, aims to build interfaces for tasks like meal planning, fitness tracking, and trivia game creation. The funding round, led by IVP, includes participation from Andreessen Horowitz, Amazon Alexa Fund, and notable investors like Tobi Lütke and Marc Benioff. Alex Lim of IVP praised Kuyda's vision for AI interaction beyond traditional text-based interfaces. Meanwhile, other AI startups like Instinct and Tolan have also secured substantial funding, reflecting the growing interest in AI agents.
The latest funding comes amid a surge in AI agent investments, with Instinct recently securing $1 billion at a $10 billion valuation. Wabi's pivot to an AI messenger aligns with the broader trend of developing more interactive and personalized AI assistants. The company's ability to attract major investors highlights the market's enthusiasm for its agentic approach. As the AI landscape evolves, Wabi's success could signal a shift toward more integrated and user-centric AI solutions.
