Wabi transforms into ai-powered messaging platform with app-creation capabilities
Wabi, an AI startup known for enabling users to build apps via prompts, is shifting its focus to an AI messaging platform while retaining its app-creation features. The company, now called Wabi 2.0, aims to offer a personal agent that performs tasks and creates interfaces in real-time. Founder Eugenia Kuyda, previously behind Replika, described the new platform as a 'personal agent that does stuff for you and builds the interface you need in the moment.'
Wabi 2.0 competes with AI agents like Meta’s Muse and Instinct by integrating conversation and productivity tools into a single interface. Kuyda emphasized that users desire more than just text-based interactions, advocating for a blend of agent capabilities and traditional software. She highlighted features such as calorie trackers, family calendars, and kid-friendly event apps as potential tools.
The platform is currently invite-only, with invites distributed on X. Meanwhile, OpenAI announced updates to ChatGPT’s plugins, allowing apps to offer interactive experiences within the chatbot interface.
