WeChat tests ai-powered social feature for users

WeChat is currently testing a new AI-driven social feature called 'Xiao Wei AI Social' within its app. The function allows users to communicate with their friends' AI assistants, known as 'Xiao Wei,' by instructing their own AI to relay messages. Once the recipient confirms, the two AI assistants will converse first, with the user only needing to approve key decisions. Unlike the 'send on behalf of' feature, this AI-driven approach keeps the conversation private within the 'Xiao Wei' interface, not in personal chat windows. The feature is available to users who have already been granted access to the 'Xiao Wei' test program, which can be identified by a 'Xiao Wei' icon in the WeChat main interface. The AI assistant supports text and voice interactions, helping users adjust settings, send messages, and access services like food delivery and ride-hailing. It can also search for videos, articles, generate images, and create notes. Users can download the latest internal version of WeChat by replying 'WeChat' to the IT之家 official WeChat account.
