Wuxi university establishes global model research center to advance physical intelligence

On October 31, 2026, the World Model Research Center was inaugurated at Wuxi University's Yun Gu Campus. This marks the university's first cross-disciplinary research platform focused on physical intelligence. The center is led by Yu Kaichen, a doctoral supervisor and assistant professor at the School of Engineering, and co-founder and chief scientist of the AI company KMind. It is also guided by Jin Yaochu, a professor and head of the Artificial Intelligence Department at Wuxi University. The center aims to develop intelligent systems capable of understanding physical laws, predicting environmental changes, and making interactive decisions. It will focus on world models and physical intelligence, seeking to create a universal model that can understand physical principles, predict outcomes, and learn from real-world feedback. The initiative is expected to support China's advancements in next-generation AI technologies. By leveraging Wuxi University's research foundation and interdisciplinary strengths, the center will bring together experts from various fields to foster collaboration between foundational theories, key technologies, and practical applications.
