xAI Grok integrates alipay and unionpay for mainland china users, offering initial discount

Elon Musk's xAI has officially enabled support for payments through Alipay and UnionPay within its flagship AI assistant, Grok. Furthermore, the subscription interface now allows users to select specific regional options, including mainland China, Hong Kong (China), Macao (China), and Taiwan (China). This expanded payment capability follows a gradual rollout, with beta testing for Alipay payments appearing in Grok's subscription interface after Cursor began supporting Alipay on April 9, 2025, and was subsequently acquired by SpaceXAI. Because Grok shares the same underlying subscription system as X (formerly Twitter), users can now subscribe to X Premium using Alipay and access Grok's Plus-tier features simultaneously. To incentivize adoption, the company is offering a substantial promotion: any new subscriber to Grok can receive a 50% discount on their first month. Beyond the Chinese payment methods, the platform also accepts Apple Pay and Google Pay, and users paying via a linked bank account may qualify for a $5 cashback.
