xAI unveils Grok build as fully functional tool for AI application development
xAI has officially launched Grok Build, its application-building feature, across web and mobile platforms, making it accessible to all subscription users. The tool enables users to create full-stack applications, websites, games, and data dashboards by simply describing their ideas in natural language during conversations with Grok. The system then generates and runs a complete version in real-time within the conversation interface. The feature, which was in early testing since July, has undergone significant improvements in generation speed and integration across the development lifecycle, from idea conception to community sharing.
Grok Build also introduces a social distribution mechanism, allowing users to publish applications with unique grok.me links. These links support custom access permissions, domain name binding, and automatic generation of rich preview images. When shared on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), the applications appear as interactive inline cards, enabling users to try them directly within the feed.
The full release includes several major upgrades, such as the ability for applications to directly call xAI APIs, integrating Grok’s conversational, image generation, and voice synthesis capabilities without managing API keys. The new version also features a Remix function, allowing users to fork and modify published applications, one-click export to GitHub, an independent third-party API key management system, and support for integration with core business data to create dynamic, real-time-filterable dashboards.
The launch of Grok Build marks a significant step toward democratizing AI application development, enabling anyone to build powerful applications quickly and efficiently.
