Xiaomi rolls out embodied foundation model in youth apartments for autonomous task execution
Xiaomi has initiated trial operations for its Xiaomi-Robotics-1 embodied foundation model within its youth apartments. This system utilizes an Agent closed-loop architecture, capable of completing complex, long-duration tasks across three rooms, such as desktop tidying, garbage collection, and item sorting, for over 30 minutes.
The model, which was officially open-sourced in August of this year, was pre-trained on over 100,000 hours of UMI data and fine-tuned with over 10,000 hours of cross-body data. Xiaomi-Robotics-1 was formally released on July 16, 2026, and achieved the top ranking in both RoboCasa 365 and RoboDojo benchmarks.
Beyond domestic applications, the technology has shown industrial viability, with Xiaomi robots achieving 94%–98% success rates in tasks like self-tapping screw insertion at the Xiaomi car factory. Furthermore, Xiaomi secured two major awards at the 2026 World Internet Conference in Wuzhen: the Leading Technology Award and the Outstanding Contribution Award, with the latter being presented by the General Manager of Xiaomi Robot Division, Xiang Diyun.
In terms of corporate scale, Xiaomi reported total R&D investment of 105.5 billion yuan from 2021 to 2025, planning to invest over 200 billion yuan in the next five years, focusing on AI models and embodied intelligence.
