Xiaomi's 7th hackathon concludes with record participation and new awards

On September 22, 2026, Xiaomi's seventh annual Hackathon concluded with a ceremony at the Xiaomi Science and Technology Park in Beijing. The event, organized by Xiaomi's Technical Committee, ran from August 1 and featured 48 hours of intense development, project presentations, and final evaluations. This year's event saw record participation, with 284 teams and nearly 1,000 participants. A total of 149 teams and 505 participants competed across the Xiaomi and university divisions, marking a new high in scale. The Hackathon introduced a new award, the 'Best MiMo Application Award,' and expanded to 94 universities, including Peking University, Wuhan University, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Projects showcased included Xiaomi's 'Smart Home Assistant,' which uses MiMo to generate personalized smart home solutions, and 'Reme,' an AI system for elderly care that balances safety and privacy. Other notable projects included 'NexPet,' an AI companion device, and 'LUMI,' a personal AI assistant. Xiaomi's university division also saw winners such as 'Xiaomi Leica AI Director' and 'AURA Smart Cabin,' highlighting AI's potential in creative and automotive contexts. The event underscored Xiaomi's commitment to advancing AI through innovation and collaboration.
