On September 8, 2026, Xpeng Group announced the official launch of its robot production line, marking a significant milestone as the first high-level general-purpose humanoid robot completed automated assembly and walked off the line independently. The company secured over $900 million in its first round of funding on August 24, raising its post-money valuation to over $6.3 billion. The round was led by IDG Capital, with participation from Gao Feng Capital, Tencent, and Alibaba. Xpeng Group remains in control of the robot business. CEO He Xiaopeng expressed gratitude to investors and the community, stating that the robot will be more human-like, safe, and capable of natural interaction, with its own memory and real-world value. Xpeng IRON was originally planned for end-of-2026 production, with commercial deployment starting from stores and campuses, and a global launch in 2027.
